First of all, the Luxembourg Garden was created in 1612. It is today composed with 23 hectares and 21 of them are open to people. Later on, between 1850 and 1870, the French Haussmannian area could allow the opening of the Saint-Michel boulevard. As soon as this was set up, the attraction of people went off. In the same period, around 1860, the Vaugirard street was built. It is known as the longest street of Paris. Around 40 years later, the building that we know today as the Hotel Trianon Rive Gauche was built in its turn. Right from the beginning, it was a hotel. A few more years came again, and going from an owner to another, the hotel Trianon Rive Gauche, and the Luxembourg Garden both became the ones we know today.
Currently, the Luxembourg Palace is the headquarter of the French Senate. In this garden, you will find a print of the French legacy.
