Prior to this era, the kimono was reserved for the <strong>samurai<\/strong>, the highest social class in the rigid Japanese system. This<strong> period of peace <\/strong>saw the hierarchical order change. With peace, the lower social classes such as farmers and merchants became considerably richer and began to wear the kimono.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strict codes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The kimono is a <strong>unisex<\/strong> and <strong>intergenerational <\/strong>clothing. It is worn by men, women, boys and girls alike! Its fabrics, colours and cuts give a lot of<strong> information <\/strong>about its owner. This green kimono, for example, belongs to a <strong>married woman<\/strong>. Indeed, you will notice that its sleeves are short. More <strong>subtle<\/strong>, men&#8217;s kimonos are more often black, grey, brown or navy blue as shown here.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pattern<\/strong>: as we can see above, the feminine kimono has more<strong> imposing patterns<\/strong> representing nature like landscapes, animals or flowers. The real kimono must be made of rectangles of fabric like those above. These rectangles are then folded and sewn together <strong>vertically<\/strong>: the kimono <strong>must not have any horizontal sewing<\/strong>! The kimono must be <strong>straight <\/strong>and follow the shape of the owner&#8217;s body perfectly.
